The Monitoring Module is a component of Cority’s Industrial Hygiene Software Suite. This robust module enables you to streamline the collection and storage of quantitative sample data and perform comprehensive analysis to support the management and mitigation of exposures.

Key Benefits of the Monitoring Module:

This module will enable industrial hygienists to:

  • Record detailed sample data from chemical, biological, and physical hazards
  • Leverage a comprehensive IH toolset, including automatic calculations and Occupational Exposure Limit (OEL) details
  • Run detailed monitoring reports and analysis using Cority’s Business Intelligence Tools
  • Track the progress of monitoring activities against pre-defined targets
  • Conduct sampling based on monitoring plans created in the Survey Module via seamless integration
  • Effectively track laboratory results with efficient data transfer via the Laboratory Requisition Module
  • Integrate with the Findings & Actions Module to record findings and implement/track corrective actions
  • Track noise monitoring specifics in a separate area

Key Components

The components of this module are as follows:

Recording Sample Details

  • Record and track a wide variety of user-defined sample types including, but not limited to, personal, area, bulk, wipe and direct reading samples
  • Use a ‘master sample number’ to allow for the capture of sequential samples with automatic calculation of the TWAs
  • Store data relating to chemical stressors, biological stressors and physical stressors such as radiation, heat stress and vibration
  • Capture detailed sample data including, but not limited to:
    • Sample status (collected, cancelled, etc.)
    • Sample type, sampling strategy, and process
    • Amount or concentration
    • Job/risk unit (as captured in the job inventory – see the Qualitative Exposure Assessment Module)
    • Agent group
    • Limit type
    • Employee details, such as job position, exposure group, shift start, length, and hours per week
  • Record data related to sampling and calibration equipment
  • Track various sample start/stop times, flow/volume data and environmental conditions
  • Enter any notes, including notes from the lab and sample reviewer notes
  • Improve efficiency with a copying function that enables the automatic creation of new sampling records with duplicate data
  • Track all tasks, controls, and PPE relating to the employee and job
  • Link the employee to Similar Exposure Group(s) (SEGs) and related agents, and view all SEGs in which the employee is enrolled
  • Create and attach sampling questionnaires and checklists to the sample record
  • Define and record any findings related to the sample (e.g., OEL exceeded, incorrect/lack of PPE, etc.) and create related corrective actions, which can be automatically assigned and tracked to ensure completion
  • Attach any related documents, letters, and notes to the sample record

Sample Calculation Tools

  • Automatically perform calculations on all sample data entered in the system
  • Define unlimited standards related to any agent to accommodate multiple jurisdictions
  • Store historical standards and terminate standards that have been withdrawn using an effective start and end date system
  • Run additional calculations using Cority’s valuable Business Intelligence tools (see below)
  • Automatic calculations/tools include:
    • Concentration and time weighted average (TWA) including calculating integrated TWAs for a sample set
    • Comparison of the appropriate standard for the jurisdiction and sample date with entered results
    • Brief & Scala OEL reduction tool to reduce occupational exposure limits for extended shifts

Noise Monitoring

  • Store the results of personal dosimetry sampling results, as well as area and source sound level measurements
  • From the dose, automatically calculate time weighted average (TWA), short-term exposure limit (STEL) and ceiling samples, by type of noise (e.g., steady, intermittent, and pulse, and equivalent sound levels)
  • Configure the system for different exchange (doubling) rates and for criteria levels (dB equivalents to 100% dose)
  • Save both 80dB and 90dB threshold values
  • Capture operation status, sampling strategy, and name of the person conducting the sample
  • Record personal sample details including employee name and demographic data, types of personal protective equipment worn, similar exposure groups in which the employee is enrolled, tasks performed, and the IH engineering controls used
  • Track sampling equipment used, default exchange rate, and the dB threshold, along with the default criterion level and the upper dB limit
  • Through the calculation of effective noise exposure, track whether an employee has been provided an adequate level of hearing protection
  • Improve efficiency with a copying function that enables the automatic creation of new sampling records
  • View/print/send automatically created notification letters

Reports / Analysis

  • Statistically evaluate data stored in the Monitoring module using Cority’s Lognormal tool, Bayesian analysis, and/or the AIHA Spreadsheet
  • Robust reports can be run using Cority’s Standard Reports tool, including:
    • Reporting by numerous factors such as employee, location, process, task, job position, exposure group and percent of OEL (e.g., search for all results exceeding 50% of the OEL)
    • Personal and survey sampling results over time reports
    • View samples per employee by chemical in both numeric and graphic formats
    • Utilize common statistical calculations such as mean, maximum, standard deviation, geometric mean, geometric standard deviation and coefficient of variance
  • Report on additional data captured in the module with Cority’s flexible Report Writer tool
  • Use Cority’s powerful Metrics tools to:
    • Record custom measures, such as company-defined targets, that can be compared to actual results
    • Quickly and dynamically analyze/graph number of samples taken and sample results by status, type, and various other dimensions
